Parchment Lampshades
Bespoke Artisan Craftsmanship
Unique in France
Maison Tricard is the only workshop in France offering the bespoke, handcrafted production of natural parchment lampshades. A truly exceptional material rooted in the ancestral craft of the parchment-maker, goat skin, kid skin, vellum (calf) and ostrich skin produce a soft, warm and unique light that no other material can replicate.
Since each hide is one of a kind, in its shade, texture and opacity — every parchment lampshade is a unique piece. This noble, eco-responsible and durable material is particularly sought after by interior designers, architects and hotel managers looking for a refined, timeless lighting ambience.
We offer bespoke commissions, small-batch production for trade professionals, and restoration of antique parchment or pig bladder lampshades. Free quotes, delivery throughout France and internationally, or collection from our workshop in the Dordogne.
Handcrafted Animal Parchment Lampshades
Beyond its exceptional aesthetics, parchment offers undeniable advantages. It diffuses a soft, harmonious light, suiting both classic fixtures and statement pieces alike. Its remarkable sturdiness ensures lasting durability, while its noble character gives each creation a timeless value.
In keeping with contemporary trends, parchment remains resolutely modern while honouring an age-old tradition. Since every hide is unique, our lampshades offer an infinite variety of hues, nuances and textures, guaranteeing their singularity. Whether in their natural colour or dyed to your specifications, our creations fit perfectly into any interior, combining timeless charm with sophisticated modernity.

Why Use Parchment to Make Lampshades?
-
Beautiful light: By tinting the light in an original and interesting way, parchment enhances both exceptional and more classic light fixtures, producing soft, aesthetic, clear and evenly distributed ambient light.
-
Durable material: Parchment is an extremely sturdy material whose resilience allows our lampshades to stand the test of time, and whose noble quality lends it great value — a combination of luxury, rarity and purity.
Modernity and originality: This luxury material, though thousands of years old, remains surprisingly modern for both classic and contemporary design products.
-
Ancestral tradition: Parchment is a natural, artisan material used by humans throughout the millennia (for percussion instruments, illuminated manuscripts, furniture) — a craft tradition we take great pride in.
-
Uniqueness of each hide: No two hides are alike! Whether in colour, nuance, markings or opacity, this infinite variety across different types of parchment makes each of our lampshades truly one of a kind.
-
Natural or dyed colour: Hides can be used in their natural colour or dyed in a wide range of shades for a result that perfectly suits your interior.
Parchment — A Natural Material
Maison Tricard sources its parchment from a tannery partner who, since 1926, has worked goat skin, kid skin, vellum (calf) and ostrich skin, through which light is beautifully magnified.
Parchment is a material derived from the use and recycling of hides that would otherwise be discarded, making its use and crafting particularly eco-friendly.
Thanks to the wide variety of hides and colours available, Maison Tricard is able to fulfil a large range of requests.

Replacing Pig Bladder with Parchment
Pig bladder lampshades, precious relics of a bygone era, are unfortunately beyond repair. This natural material, once prized for its unique translucency, is no longer worked today.
However, Maison Tricard offers a solution for lovers of the elegance and the very particular light of these antique lampshades. It is possible to restore your damaged lampshade using a carefully selected crystal parchment in a shade similar to that of pig bladder. This replacement preserves the authentic aesthetic while ensuring greater durability. Trust our expertise to breathe new life into your light fixtures with care and respect for their history.

Replacing Pig Bladder with Fabric
Of course, it is also possible to create a classic fabric lampshade as a replacement for your pig bladder lampshade.
